Register for New Parent Academy Classes

The MCPS Parent Academy offers parents and community members the opportunity to attend workshops that provide information, resources, tools and tips to support their children’s success in school. The 2018 winter season of workshops has begun. You won’t want to miss sessions on college and career planning, coping strategies for anxious children, cybersafety and social media, understanding Individualized Education Program goals and many more topics. Parent Academy workshops are free. Childcare and interpretation services are provided at all sessions. A full list of courses is available on the Parent Academy website. Move More Montgomery 100 Mile Challenge

Looking for a Healthy Activity for in 2018?

The Montgomery County Recreation Wellness Fitness and Performance Institute is pleased to announce the Move More Montgomery Initiative. The Move More Montgomery mission is to increase the physical activity of Montgomery County residents and their dogs through fun activities, classes, and programs. Dates:
Kick OffThe challenge starts on Thursday, January 24, 2018 and runs for 100 days, concluding on May 4, 2018. Move More Montgomery Wellness and Fitness Festivalon May 12, 2018. Start 2018 with a healthy challenge for and your family. You can even bring the dog!! About Are you ready to get up and move? Do you want to win prizes? Walk, jog, run a mile a day for 100 days or participate in 20 minutes of continuous physical activity (bike, swim, yoga, aerobics, ski, weightlifting etc.) it all counts as one mile! Get creative and remember, it’s all about having fun while making a lifestyle change! The program is self-reporting; you are accountable for tracking your own miles. You can simply do one mile a day or you can complete 2 miles one day and take a break the next – the goal is to complete 100 miles (or more) in 100 days, it’s all up to you! All registered participants receive a t-shirt and registered dogs receive a bandana. In addition, registered participants are automatically eligible to win weekly prizes and entered into the Grand Prize drawing(s). Participants receive weekly emails to keep you motivated and moving with health and wellness information and VIP Access to the Health and Wellness Festival on May 12, 2018. The Montgomery County Collaboration Council is the keeper of Montgomery County, Maryland’s community well-being indicators for children, youth, and families. Built to translate the vision of the Children’s Agenda results into action, these measures are key to tracking progress over time, focusing attention on areas of need, and aligning collective impact initiative’s strategies and policymaking.

The Collaboration Council is seeking a full-time Community Assessment Manager to maintain these indicators of well-being, lead community-level needs assessments, and support the organization’s involvement in collective impact initiatives.
