March is National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

People with developmental disabilities can reach their full potential with encouragement and the right set of opportunities. There are a full spectrum of services to help people with disabilities live secure, fulfilling lives. Developmental disabilities are a group of conditions due to an impairment in physical, learning, language, or behavior areas. About one in six children in the U.S. have one or more developmental disabilities or other developmental delays. Diagnosed conditions may include autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, or spina bifida. Among the services available for this population, programs focus on promoting self-determination, integration, and inclusion. Contact Montgomery County’s Commission on People with Disabilities, 240-777-1246 (V), MD Relay 711, for further supports and information. FYI Know your rights- Vote! Be #DDAware
