Asian American Leadership, Empowerment, and Development also known as Asian American LEAD; AALEAD

Asian American LEAD (AALEAD) is the leading community organization that provides educational enrichment and youth development programs to low-income and underserved Asian American youth in the Greater Metropolitan region. AALEAD serves the target population in the Wheaton, Silver Spring and Glenmont areas of Montgomery County, in addition to youth in the District and Fairfax County, VA. Founded in 1998, AALEAD's mission is to support low-income and underserved Asian Pacific American youth with educational empowerment, identity development, and leadership opportunities through after school, summer, and mentoring programs. AALEAD's highly dedicated staff and Board deliver specialized after school programs, one-on-one mentoring, academic support resources, and life skill development for students. We also assist parents with school related issues affecting their children. Our goal is to provide a nurturing environment and culturally-sensitive guidance so that each child we serve will be a contributing member of his or her community. Our programs currently serve over 300 students in the District, Montgomery County, Maryland; and Fairfax County, VA, who represent 16 different Asian ethnicities.
