Woodbourne Center, A Nexus Treatment Program

The Woodbourne Center is one of the oldest child welfare agencies in the country and has a rich history of providing care for children and families who need help. Woodbourne has a continuum of several different programs for children with emotional, psychiatric, legal, educational, and/or social problems. Our Residential Treatment Center serves up to 48 boys ages 12 to 18 referred from all over the state of Maryland for intensive psychaitric residential treatment. Children must meet specific medical necessity criteria to be admitted into this type of program. Our model includes Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Aggression Replacement Training (ART), and principles of Community Restorative Justice (CRJ). This treatment model is incorporated in all aspects of daily life in a therapeutic milieu and a specialized school. Woodbourne has two special behavior units which are specifically designed for the treatment of youth who have a history of sexually inappropriate or sexually aggressive behaviors (may include sexual offense charges)and other problematic behaviors influenced by mental health and traumatic experiences.
