Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area also known as LSS/NCA
Founded in 1917, Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area (LSS/NCA) is a nonsectarian, multi-service, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to walk with those in need and mobilize community partners to provide services that offer hope and rebuild lives. Over the course of 94 years, we have evolved to promote services that support the goals of: (1) creating, strengthening, and preserving healthy families; (2) promoting the wellness, wholeness, and self-sufficiency of individuals; and (3) increasing the employability and economic productivity of teens and adults in need.
LSS/NCA has an office in Silver Spring, MD, and 3 other offices to serve clients throughout the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore metropolitan areas. We serve over 3,000 low-income families annually through broad ranged programs: Adoption and Foster Care Program; Refugee and Immigrant Services Program that includes resettlement, workforce development, employment services, community outreach, and financial literacy; Disaster Preparedness Program; and Youth Haven Camps for youth living with/affected by HIV/AIDS.
