Mid-County United Ministries also known as MUM

Mid-County Ministries (MUM) provides services to clients for emergency food (canned & packaged) once a month to registered clients who live in zip codes 20902, 20906, 20895 and 20853. MUM also provides eviction prevention. and referrals to other agencies to meet immediate needs. Located at the Mid County Regional Services Center, 2nd Floor, near the Wheaton Metro stop between Ga. Avenue and Viers Mill Road in Wheaton. MUM is an independent agency governed by a working Board of Directors. It was established in 1996 as a cooperative effort of faith congregations and CMMC, now Interfaith Works, and receives support from civic groups, churches, and individuals. Many clients are female heads of households with children, and the elderly, and some are now unemployed individuals. MUM helps people in crisis in Wheaton, Kensington and Aspen Hill communities emphasizing client choice, problem solving and self-sufficiency. MUM is a small friendly agency, a member of the Capital Area Food Bank, and is staffed by its director, and staff including Spanish speakers. Volunteers provide valuable assistance and are more than we lcome to help with the Food Pantry and in other area. MUM is represented at various community events, such as the Kensington Labor Day Parade, food collections at Safeway and other stores, and the Board sponsors a fundraiser in October.
